Restylane® is one of several dermal fillers containing gel-based hyaluronic acid. This type of injectable filler is used to add volume and give the skin a more smoothly textured appearance. Most often, dermal fillers are recommended when the concern is wrinkled skin that is showing sharper overall contours. This is what mature adults often encounter, especially on the face. Creases and folds along the side of the nose and wrinkled skin around the corners of the mouth and eyes can be treated with Restylane®.
We do encourage our clients and potential future clients to consult with us before deciding upon the use of any type of dermal filler. Knowing how much of the filler to use and where to inject it depends on the actual facial features, and only after a consultation can we recommend this filler over other types of filler injection treatments.
When to Consider Restylane®
Restylane® adds volume to the treatable area by binding with water molecules and holding them in place. Water molecules like to stick to other water molecules, so the filler gel acts as an attractor.
Reasons to consider these injections include problems on the skin such as acne scars, fine line wrinkles and crow’s feet, deep smile lines such as nasolabial folds, and an uneven lip border. Other considerations are vertical lines on the mouth, horizontal lines on the forehead, and small depressions on the cheeks.
How We Perform the Procedure
After consulting with the client, we can move forward with planning your treatment session. The injections are administered in the comfort of our office. We inject the gel into preselected areas where wrinkling or folding occurs.
The gel fills areas in the subdermal tissues, but also attracts moisture into the lower dermal layers as well. The results are almost immediate, with the added volume becoming noticeable the very same day. We control the final look and contours by predetermining the amount of gel to use and how deeply to inject it.
Advantages
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance, so the human body won’t react negatively to it when it is injected. This is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment, much preferred by those who don’t want to undergo any form of skin ablation or skin repositioning. A facelift can correct many types of skin texture problems, but many people simply aren’t ready for a surgical treatment.
